‘The reason we lost is the war’: JD Vance

Vice President JD Vance took to social media today to deliver his post-mortem on Republicans’ grim performance in the midterms, making clear that he thought one factor deserved the most blame: “The reason we lost is the war,” Vance wrote.

Donald Trump, Jr. endorsed Vance's statement on social media shortly thereafter, writing "Every word of this."

Some observers immediately read Vance’s statement as a move to set himself up for a 2028 presidential run – but whether he has a realistic chance after last night is unclear, CNN reporters and contributors said on a panel after Vance posted his comments.
