Prime Minister Mark Carney was in Winnipeg on Friday to highlight new measures on homelessness alongside Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew.

The Carney government promises to end homelessness in Canada within a decade, with $11.2 billion set aside in the budget over four years starting next year, and $17.8 billion over 10 years.

"That's exactly what we're proposing to do in Budget 2026. To help set Canada on a path to end homelessness over the next decade. To get there, we are investing an unprecedented $30 billion in a coordinated national plan," Carney said.

Expanding on the budget, he also announced a $10 billion investment through Build Canada Homes.
