The day after Montreal Police announced the dismissal of seven officers for racism, discrimination and abuse of power, there is cautious optimism in the community.
Activists are applauding the police chief's actions, but remain skeptical that systemic issues will be solved.
"I want to see more; I want to see some sergeants, I want to see some inspectors, lieutenants, and if need be, some assistant commissioners or assistant directors that take the fall for this," Red Coalition Racial Profiling Director Alain Babineau said.
Dan Spector reports.
