The 31-year-old Calgary man accused of threating to kill Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to enter a guilty plea, according to his lawyer.

RCMP arrested Jamie Dacosta in September, and charged him with uttering threats to kill the Canadian prime minister in a video posted on YouTube.

Dacosta's lawyer, Adrianno Iovinelli says his client will likely serve some time behind bars, and will be looking for court reports that may help the judge determine an appropriate sentence.

Iovinelli also argues Dacosta has mental health concerns that contributed to his behavior, but says he has not had a psychological assessment while in custody, due to a lack of resources.

"His mental health will obviously be considered as part of his moral culpability in relation to what occurred." Iovinelli added.

Craig Momney reports.
