A commanding officer for the Royal Canadian Air Cadets suffered 'life-altering' injuries after an alleged assault by a 12-year-old boy and a 48-year-old woman, Hamilton police say.

He was supervising young air cadets who were collecting donations for poppies in Hamilton on Nov. 1 at the time of the incident. Police say it began when the 12-year-old and another boy blew an air horn into the ears of the air cadets.
