In New York, a federal judge has ruled the Trump administration acted illegally when it fired Maurene Comey, daughter of former FBI Director James Comey.
In his ruling on Monday, the judge found that her dismissal as a federal prosecutor violated the separation of powers and her right to due process.
Maurene Comey had handled the prosecutions of Jeffrey Epstein and Sean Combs, among others.
After her firing last year, Maurene Comey sued the Justice Department, saying it was because of her assumed political beliefs and who her father is.
The judge ordered her to be reinstated with back pay.
Meanwhile, the DOJ has filed new charges against James Comey. According to a court document obtained by the PBS News Hour, these relate to the alleged disclosure of national defense information dating back to 2016.
James Comey has already moved to dismiss the case, saying on social media that he is still innocent.
