A new BC government and an NDP reckoning

Watch this video on YouTube ↗
The change in government is bringing a dramatic political and personal transition to B.C., following the Conservatives' majority election victory and David Eby's resignation as NDP leader.

Ben O'Hara-Byrne and Keith Baldrey examine the fallout inside the BC NDP, including anger over the decision to call a snap election. They also discuss Jennifer Whiteside taking over as interim leader and the challenges facing the NDP as it begins to rebuild.

For Premier-designate Lorne Doerkson and the new BC Conservative government, the challenge now shifts from winning an election to governing. Ben and Keith look at the difficult choices ahead, from delivering expensive campaign promises and dealing with B.C.'s deficit, to building a cabinet from a caucus with limited government experience.

They also examine the political considerations behind Doerkson's first cabinet, the significance of the Conservatives' sweep in Surrey, and whether there is enough time for the new government to bring the legislature back for a short fall sitting.
