In Texas, young voters aged 18-29 came out in historic proportions for the midterm elections, fueling a win for Democrat James Talarico in his race for U.S. Senate. Only one Republican now holds statewide office there. “Democrats didn't resort to name calling and bullying," says Texas voter Penny Gallagher, "they were really focused" on the issues. Texas voter and UT Austin student, Brandon Morrell agrees, “We really valued James Talarico’s decency - his morality”. But "this blue tsunami was about holding Donald Trump and everybody in this administration accountable," says Morell, and Democrats will be expected "to rein that in."
