Married at First Sight UK has been axed after a BBC investigation into the reality TV series, Channel 4 has confirmed.
The show faced major controversy earlier this year after a BBC Panorama investigation uncovered rape allegations from two female contestants, alongside a third woman’s allegation of a non-consensual sexual act. The men accused have denied all allegations.
Channel 4 commissioned an independent review after the BBC first approached the broadcaster with details of the claims. The review, completed on Thursday, recommended additional safeguards for the programme.
However, Channel 4 has now confirmed that the show has “run its course”, while issuing an apology to the women involved in the investigation.
