Ukraine and Russia said their emergency alert apps were hit by cyber-attacks, with fake warnings sent to users around the countries.
In Kyiv, residents received additional false alerts of radiation hazards, chemical attacks and street fighting, with warnings to not go outside. The air force went on to clarify there was no imminent threat of nuclear war, blaming Russian interference.
Later, Russia said a "massive cyber-attack" had affected its app, with the emergency services saying specialists were working to restore it. Moscow did not immediately say who might be behind it.
