Anthropic began its journey as an under-the-radar research lab founded in 2021 by seven former OpenAI employees. Now, the company is poised to launch an historic public debut that could set the tone for the AI trade in 2027 and test investors’ appetite for an entirely new asset class. The company that brought the world Claude reported more than $33 billion in revenue for the first nine months of 2026 in its updated IPO prospectus, but also disclosed nearly $900 billion in compute and infrastructure commitments and 90-plus pages of potential risks.
