This week we're taking issue with Christian nationalist Joel Webbon, who recently went on record saying that when the welfare state collapses, the church should look at a childless, purple-haired 65-year-old woman and tell her, "You starve. Glory be to God. You starve."
It's a remarkable thing to say out loud, and it runs headlong into the parable of the good Samaritan, the prophetic critique, and — awkwardly for Joel — his own admission that caring for the poor is a job the church can't actually handle.
