Ukrainian officials say Russian attacks struck across the country on Saturday, wounding at least nine people, including a child.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the country's infrastructure was affected by the missile strikes — causing blackouts and disrupting water and heat supplies.

Officials had to close the city's 816-metre-long Northern Bridge — a major route connecting the city with large residential areas — after it was hit and damaged in the attack.

Kyiv resident Anna Raduka said, "It's good that we're alive. Everything else we'll get later. Property isn't what matters — it's life that does."

"This is simply genocide. We are being forced out of our homes. They are trying to wipe us out, but I don’t think they’ll succeed. Let’s hope we can get some help to make this all stop. We really hope so. And we’re waiting for that to actually happen," Raduka said.

As Stephanie Hallihan reports, the strikes come just days before Russia and Ukraine are due to begin U.S. brokered talks in Abu Dhabi.
