Cruise lines love telling us how wonderful their food is. But after years of cruising with 19 different cruise lines, from giant resort ships to ultra-luxury, I've discovered that there's a lot about cruise ship food that the lines don't talk about very much!
In this video, I reveal five surprising things I've discovered about cruise ship food, including what really goes on behind the scenes to get thousands of meals onto our plates every day.
I look at how cruise lines decide what food to serve us, where the ingredients really come from, how much control the chefs on board actually have, and the surprising ways cruise lines are changing how they prepare and serve food.
I also explore what really happens with those famous celebrity chef restaurants and how the cruise lines' drive to control costs and reduce waste is changing our dining experience, often without us even realising it.
Some of what I discovered genuinely surprised me, and it may well change the way you think about the food you're eating on your next cruise.
