“No One Can See God and Live”? Exodus 24 Disagrees

This week we're doing chapter and verse the old-fashioned way: reading Exodus 24 out loud and stopping whenever something weird happens, which is often.

In just 18 verses, Moses climbs the same mountain several times, 74 people see the God of Israel (who has feet, and a sapphire floor), and the narrative keeps doubling back on itself, leaving the fingerprints of multiple sources stitched into one story.

Plus: Metatron in the Talmud, what those "pillars" actually were, and the Septuagint's quiet edit to verse 10 that Dan wrote his Oxford thesis on.
