On Greece's remote islands, access to healthcare can be difficult. Many smaller islands have no hospitals, and reaching the mainland often means a long and expensive journey by boat.
For more than a decade, the Mobile Medical Units program has been bringing healthcare directly to these communities. Doctors and medical specialists travel to remote islands with trucks packed with equipment, setting up temporary hospitals for several days.
The team provides specialized examinations and care that would otherwise require residents to travel to the mainland.
