The latest Kennedy Center honorees include songwriter Paul Anka, music producer David Foster and actor Andy Garcia.
Several of this year’s nominees publicly support President Trump and MAGA, including playwright David Mamet, who's called Trump the “best president since Abraham Lincoln.”
This year’s ceremony will take place on Dec. 7 at Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena — the first time since the awards were established in 1978 that the honors will not be held at the Kennedy Center. Its main building has been closed since September, after its board said that the structure is unsafe and that the center’s finances were within weeks of bankruptcy.
President Trump has threatened to demolish the building if his name is not attached to it. A federal court case to prevent his name from being added is ongoing.
