A new report is highlighting the prevalence of dating violence among Canadian youth.
The Canadian Paediatric Society report says one-third of Canadian youth experience everything from physical and sexual abuse to online harassment.
Canada Youth Mental Health and Violence Prevention Research Chair Tracy Vaillancourt said, “Often times teens misinterpret that intensity for being markers of love and loyalty and the like, and a lot of times those are just actual markers of abuse and control and violence.”
As Sarah MacDonald reports, the data shows dating violence can affect youth of all genders, but girls and gender-diverse teens are at greater risk.
